WS_FTP Pro and PWP @att.net
Now that you've created your Web page, you need a way to get it up where it can be seen. This application will allow you to do that, and a lot more.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
Note: We've been told that the newer versions of WS_FTP Pro allow you to select the FTP server Type. The Advanced Tab options are SFTP/SSH and FTP. Be sure to select FTP and check both the Passive Mode and Secure (SSL) checkboxes.
- First, we recommend that you add a new folder for your AT&T Worldnet Web sites. Select New Folder from the File menu as shown below.
- Give it any name you wish. We chose Worldnet for this example. Click the Finish button.
- Highlight the Worldnet folder and select New Site from the File menu.
- Put a name for the profile in the Site Profile Name box. We used our e-mail ID for this purpose. This makes it easier to manage more than one Web site. For Host Name or IP Address, use:
upload.att.net - Click the Next button.
- Enter your User ID and password.
- User ID: your e-mail ID (the part to the left of the @ in your e-mail address)
- Password: your e-mail password
- Click the Next button.
- Leave these settings at the default, and click the Next button.
- Set your firewall information (if any) and click the Finish button.
- Select your connection in the left window, and you should see the connection information on the right.
- If you want to access the AT&T Worldnet PWP servers from another ISP, check the Secure (SSL) box. Note: That setting will work with an AT&T Worldnet connection and from another ISP in most cases.
- Put the location of your Web site on your hard drive in the Local Folder box.
- Verify your settings and click the Save button.
- Click the Connect button to be connected to the AT&T Worldnet PWP server. This will bring up the proper directory. You should hear a sound when the connection is made. Highlight the files you want to upload on the left, then press the arrow pointing to the right. These files will then be uploaded to the AT&T Worldnet PWP server. When the transfer has completed, you will see the files in your AT&T Worldnet PWP directory on the right.
Note: If you're trying to connect using an SSL connection, the first time you connect, you will be asked if you trust their certificate. You will not be able to connect unless you do.
If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.
If you ever need to back up the pages on the PWP servers to your hard drive, just select the pages on the right, and click the arrow pointing to the left. This will transfer them to your hard drive.
