Download WS_FTP LE and PWP @att.net

Now that you've created your Web page, you need a way to get it up where it can be seen. This application will allow you to do that, and a lot more.

Please read the information in our PWP FAQ if you would like to publish your pages from another ISP.

The instructions below are for an older version of WS_FTP LE, but the basic information should be the same.

Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.

First, Set Some Options

  1. Launch WS_FTP.
  2. Click the Options button.
  3. Select the General tab.
    general tab
  4. Enter your e-mail address in the appropriate box.
  5. Select the Advanced tab.
  6. Set the options as shown below. This will cause the Connect Dialog box to open on start-up, and will set the auto-save option for Host Configurations.
    advanced tab
  7. Select the Session tab.
  8. Set the options as shown below. I would also recommend that you check the Force Lowercase Remote Names option, and refer to all of your files using lowercase. After you get the settings the way you want them, click the Set as default button.
    sessions tab
  9. Select the Session (cont'd) tab.
  10. Set the Startup Transfer Mode to Auto Detect, as shown in the graphic below. Click the Set as default button.
    session (cont'd) tab
  11. Click the Extensions tab.
  12. Verify that the extensions shown below are present. This will ensure that these file types are sent in ascii mode, rather than binary. The rest of the tabs are just used to set items that won't affect the actual transfer of files, but are just personal preference display items. I won't go into those now, so click the OK button to get back to the main screen.

Connecting and Transferring Files

  1. Click the Connect button. Fill in the boxes as shown below.
    • Profile Name: We chose Worldnet
    • Host Name/Address: upload.att.net or upload.worldnet.att.net
    • Host Type: UNIX (standard)
    • User ID: your e-mail ID (the part to the left of the @ in your e-mail address)
    • Password: your e-mail password
    general tab
  2. Click the Startup tab.
    startup tab
  3. Leave the Initial Remote Host Directory blank, and put the location of your files on your hard drive in the Initial Local Directory box.
  4. Click the Firewall tab, and make sure that nothing is entered there.
  5. Click the Apply button to set the options.
  6. Click the OK button to be connected to the AT&T Worldnet Service Web server. This will bring up the proper Directory. You should hear a sound when the connection is made.
Note: You must be connected to AT&T Worldnet Service while you publish your Web pages to the AT&T Worldnet PWP servers.
    Main Window
  7. Highlight the files you want to upload on the left, then press the arrow that is pointing to the right. These files will then be uploaded to the AT&T Worldnet Service server.
  8. When you are notified that the transfer has succeeded, and see the files in your AT&T Worldnet Service directory, click the Options button.
  9. Press the Save Current Window Locations button on the Sessions Tab. You will not have to save these again, unless you change the directories.
  10. You can now view the files that you just uploaded with your browser. If you do not see them initially, refresh or reload your browser, or, if this doesn't work, clear your cache.

After this initial setup, the connect dialog box will open when you start the program. Just press connect, select the files you want to upload and press the right arrow to upload the files. It's as easy as that! To backup your Web site just reverse that procedure and transfer the files from the AT&T Worldnet PWP server to your hard drive.

If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.

Have fun!
