Site Tools Uploading to PWP @att.net
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
Click the link below. After you authenticate, you'll see what options are available to you. Be sure to use the account information for the site you wish to upload.
Note: Access to the AT&T Worldnet PWP servers from another ISP is now available. Read the information in our PWP FAQ for additional information.
If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, you can only upload via HTTP. If you are using Netscape 3 or above, you can use HTTP or FTP. The alternative is to use a separate FTP program but as this post is for simple instructions, I will not complicate matters by adding in another program. There is plenty of information available for that choice.
Netscape User / FTP Upload
For Netscape users, if you have more than two or three files to upload:
- Choose Start FTP as your upload method and enter your password.
- The next screen is the tree structure of your PWP directory. You will open in the parent directory of your personal Web site. If this is your first time there and haven't previously uploaded files, this directory is empty.
- Open the Windows Explorer (Start | Programs | Windows Explorer).
- Go to the directory where you saved your Web pages. In the Contents window (the right side) click once on the first file in the directory to select it.
- Resize the Windows Explorer window so you only see three or four file names in the Contents section (the right side) and move the entire Explorer window to the top of your screen.
- In the Contents section, highlight all of the files in the directory by holding down the Shift key and use the Down Arrow key until all files are selected.
- Click and hold the mouse button on any one highlighted file, then drag down into the screen area of your PWP directory. Release the mouse button to drop the files.
- When prompted, choose OK to upload the selected files to your PWP directory. The FTP will begin the upload. You can watch the progress: Uploading file to remote server. File 1 of X.
- When the upload is complete, click OK when prompted.
Congratulations! You have just published your Web page.
Internet Explorer User / HTTP Upload
For Internet Explorer users, the FTP option is not available (unless you have a separate FTP add-on program). Do NOT attempt to use Internet Explorer 5 for FTPing your files. You will use the HTTP Upload method. With this method, you upload your files one at a time. If you have a lot of files, this will take a while... upload, repeat, repeat and repeat...
The HTTP Upload method will also work for Netscape users who have only a few files to upload.
- Click the Browse button, go to the directory where you saved your home page files.
- Under Files Of Type select All Files (*.*).
- Select the first file in the list and choose Open.
- At the Upload screen, click the Upload My File button.
- When completed, the next screen will say File Uploaded. Use the Back button to return to the HTTP Upload screen.
- Repeat the process until you have uploaded every file in your home page directory.
Congratulations! You have just published your Web page.
