Microsoft Publisher and PWP @att.net

Microsoft Publisher is a very popular application with members for creating their personal Web pages. The following instructions show our recommended publishing procedures. They assume that you have already completed your pages, and are ready to put them on your Web site. We recommend publishing your page to your hard drive first, and then uploading them to your site.

Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.

  1. Launch Microsoft Publisher.
  2. From the File menu, choose Web Site Properties.
    file menu
  3. Make sure the file has a name that is supported by AT&T Worldnet Service as the main page. We recommend naming this file index.html. Make sure that this is in lower case. Click the OK button.

  4. From the File menu, choose Publish Web Site to Folder. This will publish your page to your hard drive and convert the file from the Publisher format to html format.
    file menu
  5. You will see the dialog box shown below. Select the folder that you want to hold your pages, and click the OK button.
    select folder
  6. You should see a box like the one below. When the transfer is complete, your pages have been published to your hard drive.
    save web
  7. Now, all that's left to do, is to upload your files to the AT&T Worldnet Service Web site. Microsoft Publisher uses Microsoft's Web Publishing Wizard to upload the files to the personal Web page server @att.net as a default. For instructions on using that, see the WURD on Microsoft's Web Publishing Wizard. However, we recommend that you use a normal FTP application to upload your files (see the WURD on FTP and Personal Web Pages @att.net), or use the ftp upload tools provided.

If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.
