Download Internet Explorer 6 FTP

This document contains instructions to use Internet Explorer 6 to transfer your personal Web page files from your hard drive to the AT&T Worldnet personal Web page servers. These screenshots were taken while using Windows 2000. It will work on other operating systems, but the folder view might look a bit different for other operating systems. FTP using older versions of Internet Explorer might work, but we haven't tested them.

Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.

If you work on your personal Web page files online using the PWP templates, you can also use Internet Explorer to back up your files. Use the same procedure as shown below, but drag the files from your upload.att.net folder into a folder you created on your hard drive for your personal Web page files.

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. From the View menu, select Explorer Bar, and choose Folders. This will open a folders view to the left of the main IE window. If you don't see Folders on the menu:
    1. From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options.
    2. Select the Advanced tab.
    3. Select the Enable folder view for ftp sites option.
    view menu
  3. Type one of the following in the location box:
    ftp://upload.att.net
    or
    ftp://upload.worldnet.att.net
  4. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  5. Enter your e-mail password. If you want your password saved, select the Save Password option. Click the Login button.
    login screen
  6. You'll see upload.att.net listed under Internet Explorer on the left.
    ftp window
  7. Select the folder containing your personal Web files. We used MyWebs in the example below. Note: If your files are on a floppy, click on the plus sign (+) next to My Computer to expand the listing. Select the folders and files that you want to upload on the right side, then drag and drop them into your upload.att.net folder under Internet Explorer. You can transfer them one at a time, or select all of them and transfer them all at once.

  8. Congratulations! You just uploaded your files. Select your upload.att.net folder on the left and you should see the uploaded files on the right as shown below.

If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.
