FrontPage 98 and PWP @att.net
When you are using FrontPage 98 for your personal Web page @att.net, the personal Web server is what controls FrontPage and the Web Publishing Wizard. If you get a message that says: There is no server on port 80 at 'default', it's because you don't have the Personal Web Server running.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
Using Microsoft's Personal Web Server.
- Launch the Personal Web Server. This can be found on your task bar or in the control panel. The steps shown below do not apply to the version of the Personal Web Server that comes with Windows 98.
Note: To use FrontPage, you must have the HTTP running.
- This is a one time thing, but is very important to remember. FrontPage names your home page default.htm unless you tell it otherwise in the WWW Administration settings. Even though you rename it in FrontPage Explorer, it will rename it when you publish. If you use that as the name of your home page on pwp@att.net, you'll have to specify that file name in your url for people to see your page. If you want to have a shorter url, you must use one of the default names.
For these instructions, we're going to assume that you want index.htm as your default:-
If you're using the Personal Web Server that comes with Windows 98:
- right-click on the personal Web server icon in your task bar and choose Properties.
- Click on the Advanced icon on the side bar.
- Put a check mark next to the Enable Default Document option and type index.htm in the Default Documents box.
-
If you're using the previous version of the personal Web server:
- Click on the Administration tab in the Personal Web Server Properties, and then click on the Administration button.

- Click on the WWW Administration link.

- Click on the Directories tab.

- Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will see a default document box. Type index.htm in this box, and click the OK button.

- Click on the Administration tab in the Personal Web Server Properties, and then click on the Administration button.
-
If you're using the Personal Web Server that comes with Windows 98:
- From now on, index.htm will be the default name for your home page when you publish.
Publishing your site with the Web Publishing Wizard.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
- After you click on the Publish button, the following window will open:

- Please specify the location to which you want to publish your FrontPage Web. Fill in as shown above and click the OK button.
- Fill in the sections as shown below.
- FTP Server Name: upload.att.net or upload.worldnet.att.net
- Directory Path: Leave this area blank.

- Fill in the section as shown below.
- User Name: Type in your e-mail ID. (Everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address.)
- Password: Type in your e-mail password.

- Click on the Finish button.
Congratulations! You have just published your Web page.
Note: If for some reason this method above does not work, try entering the following for Directory Path instead of leaving it blank as shown in Step 2:
FTP Server Name: upload.att.net
Directory Path: /
