Dreamweaver (Mac) and PWP @att.net
This page includes instructions on configuring Macromedia's Dreamweaver Ver.3 for uploading your personal Web pages to PWP @att.net.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
You may view the instructions for the PC version here.
- Launch Dreamweaver. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
- Select Site FTP from the left column.
- Choose the way you want your files to appear in the FTP window using the Always Show drop down menus. Local files may be on the left or right as you wish. Set the time out to be between 120 and 200 seconds rather than the default value of 15 seconds.
- Next select the Define Sites button near the bottom on the above preferences screen and the following window should appear. Highlight in the left pane your local site and select the Edit button.
- The Local Info window should appear. Here you configure for uploading to your att.net home page.
- Site Name: Give the site a name if you wish. You don't have to use the default name that is shown in the Site Name box.
- Local Root Folder: Select the local root folder. In other words, tell it where your Web pages are on your computer if you have them in a special place. This way they will always show on the FTP window automatically. Click on the small folder on the right to browse to the folder on your computer.
- Refresh Local File List Automatically: Place a check mark here.
- HTTP Address: Leave blank.
- Now select Web Server Info from the pane on the left.
- Select FTP from the server access drop down list. This is where you add your PWP FTP information.
- FTP Host: upload.att.net or upload.worldnet.att.net
- Host directory: leave blank
- Login: Your e-mail ID (the part to the left of the @ sign)
- Password: Your e-mail password
- Place a check mark in the Save box and leave the other boxes unchecked.
- The Check In/Out and Site Map Layout windows were left at the default settings.
- Configuration is now complete. Click on the OK button and you're ready to begin your FTP session.
- You should be back in the Dreamweaver main menu and from the menu bar select Site, then Open Site, and then then select your PWP page for uploading. Your selection will open the FTP uploader.
- Click on the Connect button to connect and begin your FTP session to upload your pages to pwp@att.net.
- Once successfully connected, you should see your local files in the right pane and your pwp directory in the left pane.
- Select files on the local side and drag and drop to the PWP server side or, select files and then click on the Put button to upload.
If for some reason this method above does not work, try entering the following for HTTP Address and/or Host Directory instead of leaving them blank:
HTTP Address: http://home.att.net/~emailid/
Host Directory: /
Change the emailid to your e-mail ID. Don't use the ~ sign.
Example: If your e-mail address is johndoe@worldnet.att.net, then your e-mail ID would be johndoe.
Make sure to include the slashes (/) as shown above.
If you get a host not found error from Dreamweaver, it is quite likely that trying once more will establish a connection.
If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.
