CuteFTP Pro for PWP @att.net
CuteFTP is a Windows-based Internet application that allows novice users to utilize the capabilities of FTP without having to know all the details of the protocol itself. It simplifies FTP by offering a user friendly, graphical interface instead of cumbersome command-line utility.
Note: Access to the AT&T Worldnet PWP servers from another ISP is now available. Read the information in our PWP FAQ for additional information. This version supports the SSL needed to access the PWP servers from another ISP.
This application can be use to publish your files to the AT&T Worldnet personal Web server and to backup your Web site to your hard drive.
The instructions on this page will show you how to configure CuteFTP for an SSL connection.
Creating a Certificate
When you try to access the secure FTP server for the first time, you will be asked for a Certificate. You will have to do this only once.
- From the Tools menu, choose Certificate Creation Wizard.

- Complete the information as shown below and Click the Next button.

- Fill in each field. You'll get an error if you don't. Click the Next button.

- Place a check mark in the box as shown below and click the Finish button.

- Congratulations, you've just created the certificate. This only has to be done once. Close CuteFTP Pro to set the certificate. Then, open CuteFTP Pro and follow the instructions below to configure CuteFTP for the AT&T Worldnet FTP server.

Configuration
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
- Right-click General FTP Sites and choose New Folder.

- For this example, we named our folder MyWebs.

- Make sure that the MyWebs folder is highlighted. From the File menu, select New, and then choose FTP with SSL Site.

- Add the following information:
- Label: We used our e-mail ID for this example.
- Host Address: upload.att.net
- User name: your e-mail ID (the part of your e-mail address before the @)
- Password: your e-mail password

- Click the Type tab.
- FTP with SSL (Explicit encryption) should already be selected. If it isn't, select it. The port should show 21.

- Click the Actions tab.
- For the When client connects, switch to this local folder box, select the folder that contains your Web pages.
- Click the Options tab.
- Unless you have specific settings that you want to use for this window, leave it at the default settings. Click the OK button.
- When you're ready to connect, highlight your account as shown below and click the Connect button.
If everything was set up correctly, after a few moments you should now see the window shown below, with your Web page directory showing in the right pane. Click the Local Drives tab on the left, and you'll see the files on your hard drive. - If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.
- Highlight the file(s) to be uploaded and click the upload icon (arrow pointing up). After the file transfer is complete, you should see the uploaded files in the right pane. Just end the session by clicking on the disconnect icon, fire up your browser and admire your handiwork! To backup your Web site just reverse that procedure and transfer the files from the AT&T Worldnet PWP server to your hard drive.
