Netscape FTP and PWP @att.net

The option to upload files to your personal Web page on AT&T Worldnet Service's personal Web pages is now available. These instructions can be used for any Netscape browser.

Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.

The pictures shown are for Netscape Communicator, but the concept is the same for any of them. Other instructions are available for the Netscape Gold HTML Editor and Netscape Composer.

Using your browser is an easy way to upload files to AT&T Worldnet Service's personal Web pages.

  1. You will need to enter a special address in the Address bar that includes your ID, your password, and the ftp server you are connecting to. This information is formatted like this:
       ftp://emailID:password@upload.att.net/

Note: Your emailID is everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address.
So, if your e-mailID is mcguffin, and your password is c4n4d4, you would enter:
       ftp://mcguffin:c4n4d4@upload.att.net/

Note: You can also enter this address from the menus. From the File menu, choose Open Location.
  2. Bookmark the ftp address and you can access your personal Web page upload folder with a couple of clicks of your mouse. If you don't want to bookmark the link with your password, use ftp://upload.att.netand you will be asked for your username and password each time you publish.
  3. After connecting to the server, you should end up with a screen that looks similar to this:
    current directory screen
  4. Open Windows Explorer and size it so you can see the browser window.
    multiple window screen
  5. Select the files you wish to upload and drag them to the browser window and release them. A box should appear asking if you wish to upload the selected files.
    upload query screen
  6. Choose the OK button, the files should start uploading.

Note: The browser's address bar in these screen images were hidden purposely.

If you've followed the instructions exactly and are having problems uploading, try the troubleshooting steps in our PWP FAQ.

Note: It isn't necessary to close the browser window unless you want to transfer files to a different user ID.
