Spybot

Note: Use of any anti-spyware software is always at your own risk! Although the basic use of the program is given in the steps below, it is always best to read through any documentation that is supplied with the program. Also, be very careful when marking items for deletion as deleting a required file can be harmful to your system stability.

To use Spybot:

1. Install and launch Spybot.
2. You will be asked to specify your preferred language. Click on English.
   
3. Click the Search for Updates button. Note: Always check for updates.
   
4. If updates are available, click the Download Updates button.
   
5. Once the updates are complete, a DOS window may appear for a few seconds and Spybot will re-launch if required. Leave the default setting as they are and click the Search & Destroy button.
   
6. Click the Check for Problems button.
   
7. Any issues will be listed. If there are none, you can close Spybot.
   
8. Review each item by double-clicking on it. Close the window to return to the scanning results list.
   
9. Ensure that there is a checkmark beside each item you wish to remove, and that there are no checkmarks beside any items you wish to keep. Once you have finished defining what to remove and keep, click the Fix Selected Problems button.
   
10. Click the Yes button.
    
11. Spybot will display all the fixed items.
    
12. Quit Spybot.
