Configuring Sam Spade

Sam Spade is a useful tool for tracking down those pesky spam e-mails you get. In addition to a set of tools, you get some educated pointers to where the spam comes from. All-in-all, It's a useful tool, and it's freeware. You can download Sam Spade, as well as get a lot of information about spam at Sam Spade's Home Page.

To configure Sam Spade:

  1. This is the Sam Spade window. Click the Edit menu, and then click on Options.

  2. This is the only important information. Of course, you will want to enter your own e-mail address in the appropriate text block.

  5. Paste the e-mail headers of the message in question into the window and click Parse.

That's all there is to it. The remaining tabs are options you can configure to make Sam Spade do what you want. They will not affect the basic operation of decoding headers.

Read the help file. There is a lot of information there that can assist you in setting up the options.

Again, good luck in the fight against spam. If you are an AT&T Worldnet Service member, visit the following newsgroup if you want to discuss, or get help dealing with spam in your e-mail or newsgroups. It is a members helping members newsgroup.
