How do I transfer my account information to my new iMac computer? It doesn't have a floppy that I can use...
If AT&T Worldnet Service software exists on your iMac, you can use that software. So, that should make it fairly easy for you to get your account info. What we don't know, is what version of AT&T Worldnet software you have. Here are the instructions for MS3.01, but if you have another co-branded version or browser, you will need different instructions. To use something else, go here:
Using AutoRestore With the AT&T Co-Branded Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01 Browser
- Double-click the Macintosh HD folder to open it. Find and double-click your Microsoft Internet Applications folder, then open your Internet Connection Wizard folder.
- Launch the Internet Connection Wizard 2.5 icon. A screen labeled Get Connected will appear.
- Click the Next button on the Get Connected screen. You will be presented with three setup options: automatic, manual or current. Click the selection labeled automatic. This seems contradictory, but it will enable your computer to connect to our computer and retrieve your account information. If you follow the next step, you will not actually set up a new account, nor will you be charged anything.
- Follow any other on-screen prompts until your modem dials out to our computer. Once you are connected to our computer, click the button labeled I'm already a member. You will then be asked to go through a simple authentication process. Then just follow the instructions on the screen to complete the AutoRestore process.

Yes. They have some Macintosh specific software on this page:
Does AT&T Worldnet Service provide timers for the Macintosh?
If you need an online timer for your Mac connection, try PPPop version 1.6.1. It will keep total session time, total monthly time and print daily or monthly session logs. It will work correctly with either FreePPP or OpenTransport. It can be downloaded from most Macintosh download sites, but try:
Can I connect to AOL with my Mac using AT&T Worldnet Service?
Yes, you can always access AOL via any ISP using their TCP/IP connection. BYOA (Bring Your Own Access) costs $9.95 for AOL to be used with your ISP. You do not need to use our launch button, but you do need the AOL software installed and configured.
- Log onto AT&T Worldnet Service.
- Minimize AT&T Worldnet Service and open AOL.
- When AOL comes up click on:
- Setup
- Home

- Network should be set on TCP/IP
- Save
- OK

Can I get Macintosh assistance for my Personal Web Pages?
Yes, both the pwp newsgroups and the macintosh newsgroup have AT&T employees who can help you with mac specific problems that deal with Personal Web Pages. Just check out our page on posting tips for a description of the various pwp newsgroups, and the type of information that you should provide.
Can I send pictures and documents through my e-mail to people with PCs on AT&T Worldnet Service?
Yes, but to make it easier on yourself, make sure that both you and the PC user are using the same mail send/receive protocol, either mime or uuencode.
Can I use another browser which is not offered yet by AT&T Worldnet Service? Or, do I have to use the AT&T Worldnet co-branded browser?
Yes, you can use another browser. While not included in AT&T Worldnet Service phone support, you can use any version you like of Netscape or Internet Explorer. You can download the latest Netscape software from the Netscape site, and Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Follow the installation instructions. When you install the browser, it will use the same preferences and bookmarks as your current version of Netscape or Internet Explorer. In fact, you don't even have to lose the current version of Netscape or Internet Explorer (though you will get an error message if you try to open one version while another is running).
How do I convert my bookmarks from Netscape to Internet Explorer favorites?
For anyone switching from Netscape to IE, you can import the bookmarks you have saved by doing the following. While IE is active, under the menu favorites, select open favorites. After the favorites window appears, go to the file menu and select import. Select your system folder, then the preferences folder, then the Netscape f folder. In that folder will be the file bookmarks.html. Select that folder, click the open button, and the Netscape bookmarks will be imported into your Internet Explorer bookmarks.
Why do I get Java errors when I use Netscape Communicator on my 68K Mac?
Java is not available through Communicator for 68K machines; a PowerPC is required.
Why do I get random crashes and lock-ups when I'm using a browser?
There are a few things you can try.
The first and easiest is to rebuild the desktop. To do this, restart the computer and hold down the option and command (Apple) keys until you get a dialog box asking whether you want to rebuild the desktop. Say OK.
Also, try increasing the preferred memory allocated to the browser. To do this, you must close the browser and highlight its icon (_not_ an alias of the icon). With the icon highlighted, select get info from the File menu. Try increasing the preferred memory a couple of megabytes (or more, if you have lots of ram to spare) in the preferred box in the window that comes up.
Failing that, try clearing the browser cache. You can select this under cache preferences; select clear cache now. (This wording will be different depending on what version and browser you are using.)
The last thing to try is dragging your browser preferences to the trash. You will lose some settings by doing this, but it's easier than the final option which is reinstalling the browser.
