Why to Use Linux for AT&T Worldnet Service

You have seen AT&T's 11 Key Reasons to choose AT&T Worldnet Service. Now we present 10 reasons to use Linux for AT&T Worldnet Services

You will:

  1. Choose from a variety of WWW browsers are available such as Mosaic, Netscape, Chimera, and Arena.
  2. Read Usenet news with nn, tin, emacs, or read it off-line by using suck to download it.
  3. Use POP3 mail reader such as XF-Mail.
  4. Run the Network Time Protocol (xntpd) to synchronize your clock to the millisecond.
  5. Run traceroute to see how far you are from your favorite node. For example, from the AT&T Cambridge POP to MIT, takes 14 hops.
  6. Run X window applications on remote computers.
  7. Meet online with a friend, use talk to communicate and use ftp and nfs to exchange files.
  8. Play Network Games such as XPilot, Empire, and Doom.
  9. Mount anonymous NFS sites such as the Washington University in St. Louis Data Archive.
  10. IP Masquerading to link up several computers in your home with just one phone line.
