Macintosh OS X PPPoE Configuration For DSL
Currently, there is no official support for AT&T DSL customers using Mac computers since there has been no client software development for the platform. However, existing DSL customers who wish to setup a Mac to connect with their DSL service may do so.
- Click the Apple in the upper left, and then select System Preferences from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Network icon.
- From the Show drop-down menu, select your ethernet device.
- Click the PPPoE tab.
- Select the Connect using PPPoE option.
- In the Service Provider field, enter AT&T.
- Leave the PPPoE Service Name field blank.
- In the Account Name field, enter your network ID. This ID was assigned to you when your registered your account and is a series of nine digits followed by worldnet.att.net.
- In the Password field, enter your password.
- Select the Save Password option.
- Click on the PPPoE Options... button for more options.
Note: Setting the field Disconnect if idle for x minutes is not needed. There are no ramifications/extra charges for leaving the connection active, and most customers prefer to have their DSL always on. It is probably best to leave this selection disabled. - Click the OK button.
- Click the Save button to finish.
