TLS Wrapper
The PWP FTP servers support SSL and TLS using access from another ISP. One application that has been used successfully with our servers on the windows platform is the TLS wrapper found at: http://tlswrap.sunsite.dk/
TLSWrap is a TLS/SSL FTP wrapper/proxy for UNIX and Windows, allowing you to use your favorite FTP client with any TLS/SSL-enabled FTP server.
- Setting Up the TLS Wrapper
- Configure FTP in Adobe GoLive 6
- Configure FTP in Dreamweaver 4/MX
- Configure FTP in FrontPage 2003
To configure TLS Wrapper:
- Download the Windows version of TLS-Wrap (tlswrap0.7-win32.zip) and the Cygwin DLL files from http://tlswrap.sunsite.dk. Save these files to a directory of your choice. Ensure that they both get saved to the same directory.
- Unzip the files into the same directory.
- Go to the directory that contains TLS-Wrap, then create a shortcut for it.
- Launch TLS-Wrap using the shortcut. You should see a command prompt open up with this information:
To configure FTP in Adobe GoLive 6:
- Server: ftp://127.0.0.1:7000
- Host Directory: leave blank
- Login: userID@upload.att.net:21 or #userID@upload.att.net:21
If you put a # in from of the username, the data channel encryption will be disabled and login will be faster. - Password: your e-mail password associated with the ID you are using
- Remember to press the Advanced button in GoLive 6 when you edit the server information and make sure you select the Use Passive mode option. You must use passive FTP.
Note: You must have TLS running when you run your editor to FTP.
To configure FTP in Dreamweaver 4/MX:
- Access: FTP
- FTP Host: 127.0.0.1:7000
- Host Directory: leave blank
- Login: userID@upload.att.net:21 or #userID@upload.att.net:21
If you put a # in from of the username, the data channel encryption will be disabled and login will be faster. - Password: your password
- Select the Use Passive FTP option. You must use passive FTP (PASV) or Extended Passive (EPSV). Active FTP (PORT) will probably be supported in the future. Front Page does not allow for PASV.
Note: You must have TLS running when you run your editor to FTP.
To configure FTP in FrontPage 2003:
- Choose the FTP option. In the Remote Web site location field, enter ftp://127.0.0.1:7000
- Leave FTP directory field blank.
- Check the Use Passive Mode option.
When asked for your name and password, fill in the following fields:
- Name: userID@upload.att.net:21 (replace userID with your e-mail ID; the part to the left of the @ sign in your e-mail address)
- Password: Your e-mail password
Note: You must have TLS running when you run your editor to FTP.
