WinVN 32 and AT&T Worldnet Service
This page contains instructions on configuring the 32 bit version of WinVn for use with AT&T Worldnet Service.
To install WinVN 32:
- Create a WinVN directory and unzip the archive into this directory.
- DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP:
Windows NT: If you don't have CTL3D32.DLL in your %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32, MOVE - don't copy - CTL3D32.DLL into your %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32 directory. If you don't use the CTL3DV232.DLL in the WinVN distribution, rename it or delete it out of your WinVN directory.
Windows 95: If you don't have a CTL3D32.DLL in your Windows area, MOVE - don't copy - CTL3D32.DLL into your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If you don't use the CTL3DV232.DLL in the WinVN distribution, rename it or delete it out of your WinVN directory.
There must be *one and only one* instance of this file on your disk! - Very Important! WinVN's GWINSOCK.DLL interfaces fine with Windows 95 Dial Up Network and Win 95's WSOCK32.DLL, so there is no need to modify the WINVN.INI However, if you have problems connecting to the news host follow the instructions in the readme file, or contact the creators.
Explanation: GWINSOCK.DLL is not a replacement for the WinSock provided by Win 95 so don't edit WinVN.INI and replace the GenSockDLL= line in the INI file with a WSOCK32.DLL, The GenSockDLL=GWINSOCK.DLL entry is the interface library that WinVN uses to call your WSOCK32.DLL. Do not delete this file.
