Thunderbird - For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs
Mozilla Thunderbird is a stand-alone e-mail client and newsreader, with several other useful features such as Junk Mail control and message filtering. The following instructions are for creating a news account for AT&T Worldnet when accessing from another ISP.
To configure Thunderbird for news:
- Launch Thunderbird.
- From the File menu, select New, and then choose Account. The Account Wizard will open up.
- Select Newsgroup account. Click the Next button.
- Enter your name and e-mail address in the appropriate fields. Click the Next button.
- Select the Newsgroup Server field, enter inetnews.worldnet.att.net and click the Next button.
- Choose a name for this account. Click the Next button.
- Review your settings in the next window, and then click the Finish button.
- Right-click on your news account name, and choose Properties.
- In left-hand box, click on Server Settings. To the right, select the Use secure connection (SSL) option.
- In left-hand box, click on Outgoing Server (SMTP). In the right-hand box:
- In the Server Name field, enter imailhost.worldnet.att.net
- Place a check beside the Use Name and Password option.
- In the User Name field, enter your e-mail ID (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address)
- Under the Use secure connection heading, select SSL
- Click the OK button to close the window. Mozilla Thunderbird is now configured.
