Thoth

Thoth is a full-featured newsreader for the Macintosh OS X system. This information will help you configure Thoth to access AT&T Worldnet.

We also have instructions for using Thoth while connected to another ISP.

To add a news account:

1. From the File menu, choose New News Server.
   
2. In the News Server: field, enter netnews.worldnet.att.net
   
3. From the Topic drop-down list near the top of the window, choose Authentication.
4. Enter the following information:
   • Username: Your user name (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address.
   • Password: Your e-mail password.
   • Select the Authenticate When Connecting to News Server option.
   Click the OK to continue.
   
5. Choose a folder for Thoth to store the news server information for the news server you are creating. You can also click the New folder button to create and name a folder. Click the OK button to continue.
   
6. Thoth will now connect to AT&T Worlnet's news server to retrieve the list of available groups.
   
7. After the list of groups has been downloaded, the news server settings window will open, with the Group List Topic selected. Click the Add New button.
   
8. Enter a name for the Group List. Click the OK button when you're done, then click the OK button again to continue.
   
9. The Full Newsgroup List will open, as well as the Group List you previously created. To subscribe to groups, drag items from the Full Newsgroup List to the Group List.
