Gravity and AT&T Worldnet Service

This document contains configuration instructions for using Gravity to access the AT&T Worldnet news server through an AT&T Worldnet connection. If you're looking for instructions for access through another ISP, go here. For support or download please visit Tom's Gravity Pages.

Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.

To configure Gravity for news:

1. After downloading Gravity, install it and run the program. The opening screen will appear. Click OK to continue or register if you've paid the registration fee for it.
   
2. The next screen will ask for specific pieces of information for server and e-mail setup. Input the following:
   • News Server: netnews.worldnet.att.net
   • Mail Server: mailhost.worldnet.att.net
   • E-mail Address: username@worldnet.att.net
   • Full Name: Your Name
   • Organization: AT&T Worldnet Service
3. After you finish that, click OK and Gravity will download the newsgroups available on the server. Watch the status bar to see how many groups there are. As of this writing, there are around 16,000.
   
4. After the groups have finished downloading, the Subscribe to Newsgroups window will pop-up. Choose which groups you want to subscribe to by double clicking on them. To find all the AT&T Worldnet Service groups, type worldnet in the search box.
   
5. The groups will be listed at the top of the window. To download the headers, double-click the group.
   
6. After receiving the headers you can then read through the posts, follow-up, or reply via e-mail.
