Entourage X for Macintosh

The instructions on this page will show you how to set up a new AT&T Worldnet Service news account with Entourage on a Macintosh with OSX through an AT&T Worldnet connection. We also have instructions for access through another ISP.


To configure Entourage X for news:

  1. Launch Entourage.
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
  3. Select the News tab.
  4. Click the New button.

  5. The Account Setup Assistant Window will appear. Choose the e-mail account you wish to use. This is the name that will appear in the From: line of your post. It isn't necessary to type in an Organization name. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

  6. In this window, type netnews.worldnet.att.net and leave the box next to My news server requires me to log on unchecked. Click the arrow to advance to the next screen.

  7. In this window, type in a name for your new account in the field next to Account name. Note that this name is for display purposes only. Click the Finish button.

  8. You will then see your news account in the Accounts window. In this example, it is Worldnet News.

  9. Close this window to return to the main Mail window. Highlight the News Account you just created in the Mail window (Worldnet News in this example).

  10. The window illustrated below will appear. Click the Receive button.

  11. The newsgroups available will appear in the right pane of the main Mail Window.

  12. In the Display newsgroups containing field, type worldnet.

  13. Highlight a group that interests you and click the Subscribe button.

  14. The group(s) that you choose will appear under the Worldnet News Group in the bottom left pane in the Mail window. To view them, click the arrow in front of the News Group.

  15. In the future, when you wish to read the messages in a particular group, click the newsgroup and the messages will begin to download. The messages will be listed in the top right pane. When you click on a message, it will be displayed in the bottom pane.
