Thunderbird - For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs
Mozilla Thunderbird is a stand-alone e-mail client and newsreader, with several other useful features such as Junk Mail control and message filtering. The following instructions are for creating a new e-mail account for AT&T Worldnet when accessing from another ISP.
To configure Thunderbird for e-mail (For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs):
- Launch Thunderbird.
- From the File menu, select New, and then choose Account. The Account Wizard will open up.
- Select E-mail account. Click the Next button.

For your Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name, enter your AT&T Worldnet e-mail ID (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address). Click the Next button.
- Select the POP option, and then fill in the following fields:
- Incoming Server: ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Outgoing Server: imailhost.worldnet.att.net
- Enter your AT&T Worldnet e-mail ID in both fields. Click the Next button.
Note: Your may be asked to complete just one field.
- Choose a name for this account. Click the Next button.
- Review your settings in the next window, remove the check from the Download messages now option, and then click the Finish button.
- Right-click on your e-mail account name, and choose Properties.
- In left-hand box, click on Server Settings. To the right, select the Use secure connection (SSL) option.
- In left-hand box, click on Outgoing Server (SMTP). To the right, under the Use secure connection heading, select SSL.
- Click the OK button to close the window. Mozilla Thunderbird is now configured to send and receive e-mail from AT&T Worldnet.
Note: The first time you attempt to check your mail you will be prompted to enter your password. Enter the password and select the Use Password Manager to remember this password option.
