Pegasus and AT&T Worldnet Service
Pegasus is a full-featured Internet e-mail application. It includes all of the features (and more) that you only get with the commercial versions of most other e-mail programs. The best feature of Pegasus is that it is freeware.
- The Official Pegasus home page.
- The Pegasus newsgroup.
Follow the directions in the file INSTALL.TXT in the 16-bit or 32-bit distribution files to install Pegasus on your system. Be sure you read all the information in WGUIDE.EXE. Once it is installed, follow the steps pictured below to configure it for AT&T Worldnet Service.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
To configure Pegasus for e-mail:
- Launch Pegasus.
- From the File menu, choose Network Configuration...
- Enter the information shown below, substituting your username for mine.
- POP3 host: postoffice.worldnet.att.net
- SMTP host: mailhost.worldnet.att.net

- Click the Advanced configuration options... button.
- The settings shown below work for me. You'll need to substitute your e-mail address for mine.
- From the File menu, choose Preferences...
- Select General Settings and configure as desired. Substitute your name and e-mail address for mine.
- Select Advanced Settings and configure as desired. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone so I've set the -0500 offset from GMT.
- There are other user selectable settings such as signatures and filtering. I'll leave those to you to learn from the Help file, WGUIDE.EXE, or the Pegasus news group.
