Outlook 2000 - For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs
Accessing your e-mail from another ISP requires an application that supports SSL. Note: You can't use the Norton 2000/2001 e-mail virus check while downloading with a server that requires SSL. Please read this additional information.
Note: You will need to find your AT&T Worldnet Service account information.
To configure Microsoft Outlook 2000 for For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs:
- Launch Outlook.
- From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
- You will see the following window. If you already have an e-mail account configured, it will also show in this window.
- Click the Add button, and choose Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard.
- Fill in your name. This is the name that will appear in the From: line of your e-mail. You can use your real name or, if you prefer, you can place an alias in this space. Click the Next button.
- Type your e-mail address in the E-mail address field. Click the Next button.
- Place the following information in the next window:
- Select POP3 for the incoming mail server type.
- Incoming mail (POP3) server: ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: imailhost.worldnet.att.net
- Click on Next to continue.
- In the Account Name field, enter the part of your e-mail address that is to the left of the @. In the Password field, enter your e-mail password. The password is the e-mail password that you chose. If you don't want to type your password every time you check your e-mail, select the Remember password option. Click the Next button.
- Select your connection method and click the Next button. What you'll see next depends on the connection method that you've chosen.
- When you see this window, you're finished with this part of it! Click the Finish button.
- Continue with the More Settings section below for changes that need to be made to the account properties in order to make accessing your e-mail from another ISP work.
To view or change existing e-mail accounts:
- Launch Outlook.
- From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
- Highlight the account and click the Properties button.
- Review the following tabs:
- General tab
This tab contains the basic information for your e-mail account.- Mail Account: You can put whatever you wish in this field. If you have more than one e-mail account, you can put a "friendly" name here. It makes it easier to identify each individual account.
- Name: Put the name that you want people to see on your e-mail in this box. We've used "Your Name" in the example below.
- Organization: You can leave this blank if you wish.
- E-mail address: Place your entire e-mail address in this field. We used emailid@worldnet.att.net for this example. Replace this with your own e-mail address.
- Reply address: You can normally leave this blank. However, if you want people to reply to an address other than the one shown in the E-mail address box, put that e-mail address here.
- Select the Include this Account when Recieving Mail or Synchronizing option if you want this account included every time you check for e-mail.

- Servers tab
This tab contains the information that you need to connect to the AT&T Worldnet e-mail servers.- Incoming mail server type: POP3
- Incoming mail (POP3): ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): imailhost.worldnet.att.net
- Account name: Put your e-mail ID here. The e-mail ID is the part to the left of the @ in your e-mail address.
- Password: Put your e-mail password in this field.
- Select the Remember password option if you don't want to have to type in your password whenever you check your e-mail.
- Check My server requires authentication and click the Settings button.

- Select Log on using and enter the following information:
- Account name: emailid@worldnet.att.net
- Password: your e-mail password
- If you don't want to enter your e-mail password every time you check your e-mail, select the Remember password option. Click the OK button to go back to the Properties window.

- Connection tab
Select the option that applies to you.
- Advanced tab
Change the information as follows:- Outgoing mail (SMTP): Select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) option and then change the outgoing mail port number to 465.
- Incoming mail (POP3): Select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) option and port 995 will be entered into the incoming mail port field automatically.

- General tab
- When you're finished, click Apply to save your settings and then OK to close the window.
