Filtering E-mail with Outlook Express 4
When you have several family members in your household, each with their own e-mail address, it's nice for each person to have their own place for their e-mail. If you want to check all of the e-mail at the same time, it is possible to filter each person's e-mail into their own folder. The procedure below will show you how to do that. This procedure assumes that the e-mail address to be filtered is FamilyMember@att.net. Use your own e-mail addresses instead of this address when you setup your filters.
To filter e-mail:
- Launch Outlook Express.
- From the File menu, select Folder, and choose New Folder...

- Enter a name for your new folder.
- Choose the OK button.
- From the tools menu, choose Inbox Assistant.
- Type FamilyMember@att.net into the Account box. Select the Move to option. Click on the Folder button and locate your newly created folder.
- Click the OK button and you will see the following window.
- If you already have messages in your inbox from this e-mail account and would like to move them all to your Family Member folder, click the Apply To button. You will see the following dialog box. Just select the Inbox as shown and hit OK. All of your Family Member messages will be moved to your new folder.
- Now, send a test message to test your filters. It's as easy as that.
