Trillian and AT&T Worldnet Service

Trillian allows you to use multiple existing chat service accounts in one convenient place. You must have already created your accounts with the services you wish to use before using Trillian. Trillian will not create these accounts for you. Trillian supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC.

Note: These instructions are for version 2.1.

To configure Trillian:

  1. Download, install, and launch Trillian.
  2. The first screen of the setup widow will appear. Click the Next button.

  3. Select the Use the default profile (single user) option. Click the Continue button.

  4. At this point, the Trillian Install Program window will appear. Once it is finished installing, click the Launch button.

  5. Click the Next button.

  6. You will be prompted to fill in a questionnaire. The only fields you need to complete are:
    • Name
    • Email
    Note: You need to decide if you are willing to provide any further information and whether you wish to receive e-mail about updates or allow them to track your usage.
    Click the Next button.

  7. To configure your AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) account:
    • In the Screen Name field, enter your AIM user name.
    • In the Password field, enter your AIM password.
    • Select the Connect on Trillian startup option.
    Click the Next button.

  8. To configure your ICQ account:
    • In the UIN field, enter your ICQ user name.
    • In the Password field, enter your ICQ password.
    • Select the Connect on Trillian startup option.
    • Select the I would like to add contacts manually and skip the wizard option.
    Click the Next button.

  9. To configure your IRC account:
    • In the Nickname field, enter your IRC user name.
    • In the Alternate field, enter your alternate IRC user name.
    • In the Username field, enter your e-mail address.
    • In the User information field, enter anything you like.
    Click the Next button.

  10. To configure your MSN Messenger account:
    • In the Username field, enter your Passport user name.
    • In the Password field, enter your Passport password.
    • In the Display Name field, enter the name you would like others to see in their contact lists.
    • Select the Connect on Trillian startup option.
    Click the Next button.

  11. To configure your Yahoo Messenger account:
    • In the Screen Name field, enter your Yahoo user name.
    • In the Password field, enter your Yahoo password.
    • Select the Connect on Trillian startup option.
    Click the Next button.

  12. Ensure that the I am directly connected to the Internet option is selected. Click the Next button.

  13. Click the OK button. Trillian will launch.

  14. To add a contact, click the + in the upper-left of the Trillian console.

  15. There you are, ready to go. Just double-click a contact to start a chat.
