PIRCH and AT&T Worldnet Service
To configure PIRCH:
- When you first start the program, click on Tools and select Ident Server as shown in the graphic below.
- Fill in the Ident box as shown in the graphic below. I suggest that you use a nickname instead of your user ID.
- Check the Active box, and you will see what is shown in the graphic below. Click the x in the upper right corner of the window to close it.
- Click the Login button to open the Server Connection window. It should look something like this:
- Fill in the boxes as shown in the graphic below:
- Server - any server
- Name - your name
- E-mail - your e-mail address
- Nickname - the name you want to use on irc
- Alternate - the name to use if your nickname is already in use
- Click the Connect button to connect to the irc server. You should see the following after the connection is made.
- Click the Favorites button, and you will see the window shown below.
- Click in the box on the right, and then click the Add button. You will see the following window. Fill in the boxes as shown below then click the OK button. This will add the #attworldnet channel to your list of favorite channels. You could add any of your other favorite channels this way.
Note: #attworldnet isn't a registered channel, and might not be occupied when you get there...
- Select a channel to join. I've selected #attworldnet. Click the Join button to join the channel.
- When you join a channel, the following window will open, with the list of the current occupants of the channel on the right, and the conversation on the left. @W is an undernet bot that takes care of the channel. On other channels, you might see @X or @Y instead, if the channel is registered. Not every channel is registered. Any nick that is preceded by the @ sign, is a channel operator. All you have to do is type what you want to say in the box on the bottom and hit enter.
