To open Safari preferences:
- From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
- Select the preferences you want to view:
General
You will, of course, want to ensure that Safari is your default browser. Also, you can change your home page here to http://www.worldnet.att.net. You can also choose where any file that you download get placed and whether safe files get opened automatically.
Appearence
Here you can choose the fonts used for Web pages that don't specify what should be used. If you wish, you can deselect the Display images when pages opens option. This will speed up your surfing experience at the cost of all the graphics, including graphical buttons and links.
Bookmarks
You can choose to add additional sources of bookmarks to appear in your bookmarks bar and menu.
- Include Address Book: Any Web addresses listed in your Address Book will be listed.
- Include Rendevous: Any Web addresses in you local Rendezvous network will be listed.
- Include Bookmarks Bar: Any Addresses in you Booksmarks bar will also appear in the Bookmarks menu.
Tabs
If you enable Tabbed Browsing you will be able to open multiple Web pages without having to open multiple windows. It is a great way to surf the Web. The Select new tabs as they are created and Always show tab bar options are up to your personal preferences.
AutoFill
You can choose to have Safari complete Web based forms automatically based on your entry in the Address Book. It will also remember user names and passwords for you. These are optional and subject to your preferences.
Security
Many Web sites use plug-ins, Java, and JavaScript. Unless you have security concerns you may wish to turn these options on.
The block pop-up windows is great at blocking most pop-up advertising. However, some Web pages rely on pop-up windows so even if you choose to block them here, you can temporarily allow them while surfing:
From the Safari menu, de-select Block Pop-up Windows.
Your cookie settings are up to your preference. We have some links to help inform you about cookies. You can view and delete your cookies but clicking the Show Cookies button.
It is a good idea to leave the Ask before sending a non-secure form to a secure Website option checked.
Cookies
You can delete cookies here by selecting one and the clicking the Remove button. You can also delete them all by clicking the Remove All button. Note: If you remove all your cookies some Web pages that you visit will lose the preferences you have chosen.
Advanced
Unless you have specific requirements, you may want to leave these settings
as they are.
