Opera 7 and Newsgroups

• Create an News Account
• Modify an Existing News Account

To create an news account:

1. Launch Opera.
2. From the Mail menu, choose Manage accounts.
   
3. Click the New button.
   
4. Select the News option and click the Next button.
   
5. Enter the your name, e-mail address. You may also enter an organization if you like. Click the Next button.
   
6. Enter the following information:
   • Incoming server: netnews.worldnet.att.net
   • Outgoing server: mailhost.worldnet.att.net
   Click the Next button.
   
7. We recommend you finish all these steps first and take the tutorial later, so click the No button.
8. The newsgroups lists takes a while to load. Once it finishes loading you can subscribe to newsgroups by placing a check mark next to it. Click the OK button when you are done here.
   
9. Click the Hotlist button.
   
10. Click on the triangle next to news server name to expand the list.
    
11. Double-click a newsgroup to open it.
    
12. Double-click a message to open it.
    
13. You are done!

To modify an existing news account:

1. Launch Opera.
2. From the Mail menu, choose Manage accounts.
   
3. Select the account you wish to modify and click the Edit... button.
   
4. Select the General tab. Enter the following:
   • Account name: A descriptive name for the account like worldnet or your name.
   • Full name: Your name.
   • E-mail address: Your e-mail address.
   • Organization: this one is optional.
   
5. Select the Servers tab. In the Incoming POP server section, enter the following:
   • Server: netnews.worldnet.att.net
   • Port: Do not modify this number.
   In the Outgoing POP server section, enter the following:
   • Server: mailhost.worldnet.att.net
   • Port: Do not modify this number.
   
6. Select the Incoming tab. Make changes according to your preferences.
   
7. Select the Outgoing tab. Make changes according to your preferences.
