Opera 7 - For High-speed Connections & Other ISPs
Note: To use Opera to get your e-mail while connected to another Internet Service Provider, you will need to use Stunnel to create a secure connection.
To create an e-mail account:
- Launch Opera.
- From the File menu, choose Preferences.
- From the left column, select Start and exit. Select the Start with home page option and enter the address you wish to be your default. Of course, we recommend
http://www.worldnet.att.net.
- From the left column, select E-mail. Select the Use Opera option. Click the OK button.
- From the Mail menu, choose Manage accounts.
- Click the New... button.
- Select the Regular e-mail (POP) option. Click the Next button.
- Enter the your name, e-mail address. You may also enter an organization if you like. Click the Next button.
- Enter the following information:
- Login name: Enter your UserID (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address).
- Password: Enter your e-mail password
- Enter the following information:
- Incoming server: ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Check the Use secure connection (TLS) option.
- Outgoing server: 127.0.0.1
- We recommend you finish all these steps first and take the tutorial later, so click the No button.
- Select the account and click the Edit... button.
- Select the Servers tab. In the Incoming POP server section, enter the following:
- Server: ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Port: 995
- Check the Use secure connection (TLS) option.
- Authentication: Plaintext
- User name: Enter your UserID (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address).
- Password: Your e-mail password.
- Server: 127.0.0.1
- Port: 25
- Authentication: Plaintext
- User name: Enter your UserID (everything to the left of the @ in your e-mail address).
- Password: Your e-mail password.
- The General, Incoming, and Outgoing tabs all contain optional settings that you can change to your preferences.
- Click the OK button.
- Create a secure connection with Stunnel.
- Click the Hotlist button.
- Click the Check Mail button.
- To compose a test message to yourself, click the Compose button..
