Netscape 4.0x and AT&T Worldnet Service
Creating a Profile
One of the best new features of Netscape 4.0 is the ability to have multiple user profiles. This means you can share Netscape with other members of your family who have their own user ids, or even access multiple ISPs with it.
- To create a profile, start the User Profile Manger by double clicking on the User Profile Manager icon. The window below will open. Click the New button.
- Click the Next button.
- Enter the name you want to appear on any postings or e-mail messages. Also enter the e-mail id that you want this profile for. Enter your changes, if any, and click the Next button.
- Give your profile a name. You can let it default to the e-mail id if you want. Also, specify where this profile will be located. You can put it anywhere. Enter your changes, if any, and click the Next button.
- Enter your name, e-mail address and SMTP server (mailhost.worldnet.att.net). Click Next.
- Enter your user name and incoming server address (postoffice.worldnet.att.net). Make sure POP3 is checked. Click the Next button.
- Enter the mail server name (mailhost.worldnet.att.net) Port Number 119. Click Finish. You're Done! In the future, when you start Netscape 4.0 or any component of it, you will be prompted for the profile you wish to use. This is great for the multi user family or those who use multiple ISPs or e-mail Ids.
