Netscape 4.0x and AT&T Worldnet Service
To configure Mail & Groups Preferences:
- From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
- Click on Mail & Groups. From this section, you can modify how the Netscape news window looks. Most of this is self explanatory.
- Click on Identity. This defines who you are and where your signature file is located. Again, most of it is self explanatory. Make any changes required.
- Click on Messages. This section defines how mail and news is transmitted. One new feature of Netscape 4.0 is the ability to create your messages in HTML format. Many people's mail and news clients cannot read HTML formatted messages. If you use HTML formatted messages, you are liable to annoy someone.
You can specify whether or not to send a copy to yourself or someone else every time you e-mail or post a message.
Last specify where to save a copy of outgoing messages. For outgoing messages use the default Sent folder. If you don't specify anything your outgoing messages won't be saved.
- Click on Mail Server. This is where you tell Netscape what servers to use and your user ID. You can pretty much copy what I have here, just change the Mail server user name to your e-mail ID at AT&T Worldnet Service (not your encrypted Worldnet ID).
- Click on Advanced and change the Local Mail Directory to point to where your your profile information is located.
- Click the More Options button for additional settings. You can set where you want your mail located, how often you want to check your e-mail, and if you want your password remembered from session to session.
- Click on Groups Server. This is where you specify the news server name and the location of your news server directory. The news server should be as indicated here.
- Click on Directory. This is where you specify your Directory preferences.
Go to Configuring Preferences - Composer
