Netscape 3.0x and AT&T Worldnet Service
To configure General preferences:
- From the Options menu, choose General Preferences.
- From the Appearance tab you can modify how the Netscape window looks, which component starts when you start-up Netscape and how links are handled on Web pages. Most of this is self explanatory. Pick what you want and then click the Fonts tab.
- The Fonts controls the way text is displayed on Web pages. Again, it's pretty much self explanatory and should be based on your personal preferences. Click the Color tab.
- The Color tab controls the default colors used when viewing Web pages. Many Web pages set their own colors for much of this so your choices here will only be used when the Web developer has not overridden them. You don't really need to do anything here so click the Images tab.
- The Images tab controls how and when images are displayed on Web pages. Again,
personal preference rules here. Click the Apps tab.
- The Apps tab is where you specify some general apps to use for TELNET, TN3270 and viewing source code. If you don't know what these mean, then you probably don't need to worry about them. However, be sure you specify a temporary directory for Netscape work files. Click the Helpers tab.
- The Helpers tab is where you set up applications to be used when you access or download certain types of files through Netscape. It would take a lot more room then what we have here to explain all this, so don't worry about it for now. If you become an Internet junkie, then one day you might want to go to Netscape's Handbook and read up on it. Click the Languages tab.
- The Languages tab is where you select what languages you want to be able to accept. You probably don't need to worry about this unless you are fluent in some other language and intend to visit Web sites written in other languages. That's all for the General Preferences option. Click the OK button.
