Internet Explorer 4.0 and AT&T Worldnet Service

To configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer 4.0.
  2. From the View menu, choose Options.
  3. Select the Connection tab, and then click the Connect... button.

  4. The Connection Wizard should open up. Click the Next button.

  5. Choose I want to setup a new connection using an existing Internet service. Click the Next button.

  6. Choose Connect using Phone Line and click the Next button.

  7. Choose Use an existing dial-up connection and highlight AT&T Worldnet Service. Click the Next button.

  8. Choose New Internet Mail Account. Click the Next button.

  9. Enter your name, click the Next button, then enter your e-mail address, and click the Next button. Then it will ask you, Do you want to change this connection? Select No and then click the Next button.

  10. Enter the following servers:
    • Incoming Mail (POP3): postoffice.worldnet.att.net
    • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mailhost.worldnet.att.net
    Click the Next button.

  11. Enter your username and e-mail password. Click the Next button.

  12. Give it a name to remember it by. For example AT&T Worldnet Service. Click the Next button.

  13. When asked to setup an Internet News Account, click the Yes button.

  14. Choose, New Internet News Account.

  15. Enter Your Name and e-mail address. Click the Next button.

  16. Enter the following server:
    • News (NNTP): netnews.worldnet.att.net
    Click the Next button.

  17. Give it a name to remember it by. For example, AT&T Worldnet Service News. After this step it will ask you do you want to setup Internet Directory Services... choose No and then click the Next button.

  18. Click Finish.

  19. Once Internet Explorer 4.0 starts, go to View and choose Options. Enter http://www.worldnet.att.net for the start page. Click the OK button, and you're done.
