Internet Explorer 4.0 and AT&T Worldnet Service
To configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0:
- Launch Internet Explorer 4.0.
- From the View menu, choose Options.
- Select the Connection tab, and then click the Connect... button.
- The Connection Wizard should open up. Click the Next button.
- Choose I want to setup a new connection using an existing Internet service. Click the Next button.
- Choose Connect using Phone Line and click the Next button.
- Choose Use an existing dial-up connection and highlight AT&T Worldnet Service. Click the Next button.
- Choose New Internet Mail Account. Click the Next button.
- Enter your name, click the Next button, then enter your e-mail address, and click the Next button. Then it will ask you, Do you want to change this connection? Select No and then click the Next button.
- Enter the following servers:
- Incoming Mail (POP3): postoffice.worldnet.att.net
- Outgoing Mail (SMTP): mailhost.worldnet.att.net
- Enter your username and e-mail password. Click the Next button.
- Give it a name to remember it by. For example AT&T Worldnet Service. Click the Next button.
- When asked to setup an Internet News Account, click the Yes button.
- Choose, New Internet News Account.
- Enter Your Name and e-mail address. Click the Next button.
- Enter the following server:
- News (NNTP): netnews.worldnet.att.net
- Give it a name to remember it by. For example, AT&T Worldnet Service News. After this step it will ask you do you want to setup Internet Directory Services... choose No and then click the Next button.
- Click Finish.
- Once Internet Explorer 4.0 starts, go to View and choose Options. Enter http://www.worldnet.att.net for the start page. Click the OK button, and you're done.
